Unpopular Opinion Rant: STI Screening For Clients And Providers

Feeling really weird because I feel like one of the only providers out there who requires an STI panel no older than 3 months. I probably turn down about 80% of clients who reach out to me because of this screening protocol. I just don’t feel like condoms are 100%, because they’re not; I feel like a total douche canoe, but at the end of the day, my health has no financial value and your $400 isn’t worth me going through the stress and trouble of getting treated for an STI that could have been easily avoided if you just ran a test. A lot of people are asymptomatic when it comes to STIs: chlamydia, HPV, HSV, HIV, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis. I don’t want to run the risk of spread and I don’t wanna fucking deal with it / have to step away from work because I can’t afford to.

STI panels are like wearing a mask: it’s more for the health of other people. If you are seeing providers, I feel like it’s important that you take care of your health to ensure you’re taking care of their health. Plain and simple. End “unpopular opinion” rant.
